Organization Development

Organization development is the effort to improve the organization’s processes through collaboration of management and a change agent to apply behavioural science theory and technology. It is an ongoing process of implementing organizational change. The application of security-focused technology and processes into the organization often results in significant organizational change. This process goes beyond the visible hardware of locks, fences and cameras to the need for people to adopt and adapt to the cultural change in an effective way. Simply put, technology does not work if people will not use it.

Change Management

3Si consultants, led by an organization development specialist, are experienced in the processes required for the effective implementation of change. Through the use of the 3Si Risk Strategies Change Management Framework, six distinct process stages assist the organization in preparing for change, analyzing the change, planning, implementing, evaluating and entrenching the change in a cost effective manner. Through training and coaching, managers become internal change agents with the competencies required to guide the change process to a successful conclusion.

Leadership

Leadership is often described as “getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it”. 3Si offers organization development on the philosophy that everyone in the organization is a leader. This is known as small ‘l’ leadership. 3Si consultants have many years of leadership experience in policing, military and private sector as well as academic qualifications. They are also certified administrators of the Consulting Resource Group International assessment systems. Two of 3Si’s consultants are co-authors of the well respected book, Every Officer is A Leader (Trafford) which is currently in use by organizations such as the FBI in leadership training. 3Si can provide both training and coaching to organizational leaders.

Training

Organization development includes the training and development of the organization’s key resource – people. Any security-related program is likely to be only as effective as the operational and administrative abilities of those persons responsible for the managing, administrating, monitoring, supervising and implementing of the program. Those who are new to any of these program requirements often need training in order to achieve the necessary standard of proficiency. Training is the acquisition of knowledge and skills that produce a level of competency required to effectively perform the current tasks associated to the program function. Training includes both functional activities and those certifications generally required by legislation. Development is the improvement of knowledge, skills and abilities to attain the level of competency required to perform future tasks. This development includes such areas as leadership, supervision and management as the organization prepares its people for more challenging program-related positions.

3Si team members involved in training and development programs possess many years of law enforcement, military, public safety and security industry experience including training and development activities. 3Si team members also possess academic credentials in related fields and extensive experience in post-secondary education environments.
